Internet Faxing

A fax is one of the most used and archaic tools for a Realtor. The quality of documents sent deteriorates each time it is pushed through a fax machine. The worst culprits are the standalone fax machines. Most don’t have good enough printers or the resolution is set to low to save time when sending a fax.

I find emailing documents to be a much better way to exchange documents and the resolution is maintained through each contact. Most people who prefer to exchange documents via email do it to preserve the resolution and quality of the documents, so it would just make sense that they would scan and send documents at a higher resolution.

With high speed Internet access becoming more and more prevalent, it does not take as long to send an email with a large attachment. WebForms (a system used by Realtors to draft contracts etc.) also allows direct emailing of documents.

However, I find that a lot of people just don’t do email for some reason, as such I had to get a fax. But not just any fax, I got myself an Internet faxing (through myfax.com) solution. For less than $10/month, I have my own fax number, did not have to buy a fax machine and can email (err fax) right from my computer. Faxing a document is as simple as either drafting or scanning that document and then sending an email with that document as an attachment. The other party has no idea that I am not using a typical fax machine. If someone wants to send me a fax, it is sent exactly the same way a fax is sent to a traditional fax machine. I receive the fax as an email attachment, that I can print, forward etc.

No, this still does not eliminate illegible faxes. But it is convenient, extremely cheap and always available. I have access to all my received or sent faxes as long as I have Internet access. I don’t have to be tied to a fax machine to receive a fax. I could go on and on, this is an amazing service and one that every Realtor should be using.
