Even the staunchest Mac fanatic will agree that Windows PCs are just better at certain things. Some are by design, for example Microsoft not releasing products for the Mac platform. Some are simply because such applications are not targeted for Mac users.
Whatever the case, every Mac user wishes that a Mac version of a certain Windows application existed.
Here is a list of things that I absolutely love when running Windows on my MacBook Pro:
- MSN Messenger - The Mac version is woefully inadequate and iChat does not support MSN accounts. Most of my contacts use MSN messenger, so this is a no-brainer. There are ways of using iChat for MSN accounts, but nothing works are good as the original.
- SEO Tools - Most of the SEO tools are written for the Windows version of Firefox, hence the ability to run Firefox as I poke around the net on Safari is super cool.
- Windows Live Writer - There is nothing that comes even close to matching the ease of use and convenience of WLW. If there was a piece of software that Microsoft got right, it is WLW. And they are giving it away for free!
- MS Office 2007 - Mac Office 2008 does not have half the functionality of the Windows version. Just being able to use Outlook for email and Access for database is worth the price.
I am sure that I could find some Mac applications that would do a good enough job, but the above 4 have absolutely no match.
